SIX competitors from Warrington Athletic Club took part in the Run Through Alton Towers event on hilly courses.
On Saturday, three under-11s took part in the junior race, with Leonard Broadhurst finishing 78th overall and 65th in the boys’ race, while twins Edie and Bella McArthur finished 156th and 187th overall and were 34th. and 40th among girls.
In the under-15s, Alfie Blizzard and Oliver Davenport took part in the 5km race where the former erased his personal best in 11th place in 17 minutes 42 seconds – an improvement of 3 minutes 26 seconds.
Oliver finished in 40th place with 19 minutes 36 seconds.
In the half marathon, Alfie’s mother, Louise Blizzard, finished 74th overall with a time of 1:33:51, placing her second and first woman in the over-45s.
The British and Irish Masters International Cross Country event took place on Saturday at the Billy Neill MBE Country Park in Belfast, Northern Ireland, with two runners from Warrington Athletics Club taking part.
In the men’s 50-64 race, Steve Watmough was part of the England Over-60s team and finished 48th overall, placing him seventh in his age group.
England won the team event but Watmough was the fourth runner and his score did not count for the team.
In the over-65 race, Dave Watson represented Wales and finished 25th overall, placing him 18th in the 65-69 age group.
Wales finished fourth with Watson as the team’s third scorer.
The Preston 10 mile road race incorporating the Northern Masters Championships took place on Sunday with Warrington AC’s Dave Gill finishing 89th overall in a time of 69 minutes 13 seconds, placing him second overall in the older age group 65 years old.
Gill improved on his silver medal at last year’s Northern Masters by winning gold, with the age group winner not competing in the Northern Masters.
Five Warrington AC runners competed for Altrincham’s Loreto Grammar School in the regional round of the English Schools Cross Country Cup
Annie Noone was a counting runner in the intermediate girls team which finished fourth at the North West meeting at Sedbergh School in Cumbria.
She finished in 28th place, while clubmate Allanah Donlan was also a member of the team and came home in 54th place but was not among the four scoring runners.
In the senior girls, Sinead Gregory led finishing in 20th place and was supported by her twin sister Cara in 23rd and Sarah Ashcroft 29th in a team which finished sixth.
