South Pembrokeshire Golf Club has secured funding for a New2Golf winter programme.

The initiative is supported by Wales Golf and is due to start in 2025.

Starting Tuesday, January 28 at 7 p.m., the first six lessons will take place at the New Trackman Mayfield Driving Range.

Participants will then have the chance to complete six further courses in March, focusing on short game and course management, directly at South Pembrokeshire Golf Club (SPGC).

The goal is to have learners ready to begin playing regularly by April, giving them a full summer of golf ahead.

The success of last year’s program was highlighted by two members transitioning from football and cricket to golf thanks to New2Golf.

They shared their experience saying: “Our experience with the New2Golf program was nothing short of extraordinary.

“Under the expert guidance of a professional, we had several coaching sessions and were warmly welcomed by the South Pembrokeshire Club.

“The club members went above and beyond, offering their time and wisdom to mentor us, and accompanied us on the course to help us establish our handicaps.

“The club held monthly friendly competitions, where we were matched with members in different game formats, keeping the experience fresh and exhilarating.

“Once we earned our handicaps, we were free on the course and there was no turning back.

“Despite the inevitable ups and downs in our performances, we became addicted to the game.

“The lush green courses along the estuary became our sanctuary, a place where we could breathe fresh air, take our steps and continually strive to improve our game.

“Golf has since become a cherished part of our lives, and South Pembrokeshire Golf Club is firmly in our hearts.

“Each round brings new challenges and new joys, and we have found a community that shares our passion.

“The camaraderie, competitions and beauty of the game made the start of our golf journey unforgettable.

“If you are considering taking up golf, we cannot recommend the New2Golf program and the South Pembrokeshire Club highly enough.

“It’s not just a sport, it’s a lifestyle that will captivate your heart and soul.”

The program offers subsidized prices, with all six lessons costing £30.
