Liverpool face two huge games this week as the matches start to pile up quickly.
Arne Slot’s side welcome Real Madrid and Manchester City to Anfield in the Champions League and Premier League respectively, looking to continue what has been an excellent start to the season.
Top of the European table and eight points clear of City ahead of their showdown on Sunday, things couldn’t go much better for the Dutchman in the first months of his tenure.
Sunday’s dramatic 3-2 win over Southampton highlighted their fighting spirit to match their obvious quality and that will no doubt be needed in another huge week.
Fighting on several fronts, Slot will need his entire team available.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Liverpool injuries.
Trent Alexander-Arnold
Trent Alexander-Arnold was forced to withdraw from the win over Aston Villa before the international break due to a hamstring injury and was subsequently withdrawn from the England squad.
He then missed the win against the Saints, although Slot suggested there was hope the right-back could return soon.
“Trent isn’t training with us yet, but he’s getting there so we hope he’ll be back with us soon,” he said last week.
When asked if he could return for the doubleheader, Slot said, “With Trent, it’s going to be between the two.”
Potential return date: November/December 2024
Kostas Tsimikas
Greek international Kostas Tsimikas missed the win against the Saints due to what is believed to have been a knock sustained in training last week.
Potential return date: Unknown
Alisson Becker
Alisson is back in training with Liverpool after a recent hamstring injury but did not take a risk against the Saints.
With deputy Caoimhin Kelleher in good form, it seems unlikely the Brazilian will return to action.
Potential return date: December 2024
Diogo Jota
Diogo Jota suffered a chest injury in the win over Chelsea last month and was initially expected to return after the international break.
Yet speaking ahead of Sunday’s win, Slot suggested the striker was still facing a spell of inactivity.
Potential return date: December 2024
Federico Chiesa
Summer signing Federico Chiesa is yet to start in a Liverpool shirt and is still training away from the first team as the Italian star attempts to build up his fitness.
Potential return date: Unknown
