by More than 150 local runners were undeterred by a stormy night to take on the ‘brutal’ Bradenham Blast running trail on Sunday 8th September.
The course, which covers 10km around the Bradenham Estate, about four miles from High Wycombe, is described by organiser Fred Newton – who was first across the finish line of the Frankenstein course at last year’s Marlow Half Marathon – as “one of the toughest running events in Bucks”.
Similar to the popular Marlow event, the Bradenham Blast – now in its second year – also featured a shorter 5km race, won by Vale of Aylesbury runner Seth Kaye, who completed the course in 19 minutes and 20 seconds.
Meanwhile, Wycombe native Ben Pease took the crown in the 10km race, with an impressive finishing time of 39 minutes and 34 seconds, making him the only participant to cross the line in under 40 minutes.
Fred, who is part of Wycombe-based Handy Cross Runners, said the Bradenham course was “brutal but also very scenic”.
However, any feeling of fatigue or difficulty was offset by a great community spirit: “Everyone who started finished the race and did so with a big smile and a lot of enthusiasm.”
