Top-ranked Scottie Scheffler, two-time major winner Xander Schuaffele and DP World Tour Championship winner Rory McIlroy were named Monday nominees for the 2024 PGA Tour Player of the Year award.
The Jack Nicklaus Award, named in honor of the record 18-time major winner, and the Arnold Palmer Award for PGA Rookie of the Year will be voted on by PGA Tour members through Dec. 4 and winners will be announced d by the end of the year.

Scheffler and Schauffele are the favorites in the race for the best players.
Scheffler won Olympic gold in Paris and won seven PGA Tour titles, including his second Masters title in three seasons.
The 28-year-old American also won the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Players Championship, Heritage and Memorial tournaments, Travelers Championship and Season Ending Tour Championship to win the FedEx Cup.

Among the recruits, Dunlap, 20, was the surprise. He won the American Express title as an amateur on a sponsor exemption in January, turned professional and then won the Barracuda Championship, becoming the first player in tour history to win as a pro and amateur during the same season.
Pavon, 32, won the Farmers Insurance Open and finished third at Pebble Beach as well as fifth at the US Open. He was the only rookie to qualify for the season-ending Tour Championship.
